Billie
Europe's leading B2B BNPL platform — merchants get paid upfront, business buyers pay on flexible invoice terms.
Overview
Billie is a Berlin-based B2B Buy Now Pay Later provider, founded in 2016 by Christian Grobe and Matthias Knecht. Billie offers European B2B merchants checkout-integrated buyer credit — primarily Pay-in-30 net terms and instalments — and assumes all credit and default risk via proprietary real-time KYB and credit decisioning. Merchants get paid upfront, and Billie collects from the business buyer over the agreed term. Billie is BaFin-supervised in Germany and operates across 12 confirmed EU markets including DE, AT, FR, NL, SE, NO, FI, GB, CH, IT, ES, and DK. A defining feature of Billie's market position is its strategic partnership with Klarna. Klarna invested in Billie's Series C and is also the exclusive distribution partner for Billie's B2B BNPL product outside Germany, integrating Billie directly into Klarna checkout for business buyers. The partnership is documented across Billie's Series C announcement, Klarna's developer documentation, and Klarna's legal/T&C documents. Billie is also a Stripe payment method (officially added March 2025) and integrates with Adyen, Mollie, and Shopware. Funding: Billie raised a Series C of $100M in October 2021 led by Dawn Capital at a $640M valuation, plus an earlier Series B of €30M in 2019 led by Creandum. No post-2021 round has been disclosed. Notable customers verified from primary sources include Alibaba.com, Samsung, Contorion, and mymuesli (the first Klarna x Billie merchant). About You, Adidas Business, and OTTO were cited in industry reporting but not confirmed via primary Billie sources.
