Overview

BR-DGE is an Edinburgh-based, vendor-agnostic payment orchestration platform founded in 2018 by Brian Coburn (former Global CIO at Stagecoach Group). The platform acts as an independent technology layer between enterprise merchants, financial institutions, acquirers, and payment service providers, providing a single integration point that connects to over 400 payment technologies — including card schemes, PSPs, alternative payment methods, and fraud tools — enabling clients to consolidate their payment infrastructure without replacing existing relationships or contracts. The platform is fully modular, comprising four core products: BR-DGE Connect (multi-PSP connectivity and APM access), BR-DGE Optimise (dynamic smart routing, failover, and multi-acquirer strategies), BR-DGE Vault (PCI DSS 4.0-compliant network and gateway tokenisation), and BR-DGE Insights (real-time data reporting and payment analytics). These modules can be deployed independently or as a full-stack solution, and are available white-label to acquirers, PSPs, and platforms. Key customer outcomes cited include 6%+ of revenue recaptured through failover routing, 88% faster time-to-market for new integrations, and 10–37% reduction in acquiring fees. BR-DGE primarily serves mid-market to enterprise merchants in travel, gaming, digital goods, ecommerce, transport, and retail. Named customers include William Hill, FirstGroup, Kenwood Travel, Betfred, and THG Ingenuity. The company raised ~$47.2M total across rounds including a Series A (January 2022) led by Albion Capital and Visa Ventures, and a late VC round in December 2025. BR-DGE expanded into APAC in 2024 with its first in-region hire.
