Overview

Disputifier is an AI-powered, end-to-end chargeback management platform built primarily for Shopify merchants and DTC ecommerce businesses. Founded in 2020 by Mark Wagner and headquartered in Clayton, NC, the platform automates the full chargeback lifecycle — from real-time prevention via chargeback alerts (RDR, Ethoca, Verifi and Order Insight) to automated evidence-based dispute responses submitted on the merchant's behalf. By integrating directly with Shopify and major payment processors (Stripe, PayPal, Authorize.net, Afterpay, Klarna, Recharge), Disputifier handles chargeback management with minimal merchant involvement, claiming reductions in chargeback rates of up to 95% and win-rate improvements of over 230%. The platform's core architecture has three pillars: (1) Chargeback Alerts — real-time notifications from Verifi and Ethoca that allow automatic refunds before disputes are formally filed, protecting the merchant's chargeback ratio with the processor; (2) Automated Representment — AI-generated, data-driven dispute responses optimized through continuous split testing; and (3) Fraud Prevention — machine learning–based order screening that identifies and cancels fraudulent orders before they ship. An additional Order Not Received prevention module proactively sends shipping notifications to preempt item-not-received claims. Disputifier operates on a bootstrapped, success-based pricing model with no monthly or setup fees — merchants pay 20% of won chargeback revenue, capped at $250 per dispute. As of 2025, the platform served over 11,000 Shopify stores with approximately $2.1M in annual revenue and a 19-person team. The company is SOC 2 Type II certified. Note: a security incident in January 2026 involving unauthorized Shopify API token access was disclosed and remediated by Disputifier.
