Mondu
B2B Buy Now Pay Later platform for European merchants — checkout-integrated credit with full risk transfer.
Overview
Mondu is a Berlin-based B2B Buy Now Pay Later platform, founded in 2021 by Philipp Povel and Malte Huffmann. Mondu offers European B2B merchants checkout-integrated buyer credit (Net 7/14/30, installments, and a Digital Trade Account for recurring buyers), with full credit risk transfer — Mondu pays the merchant upfront and takes on all default risk. The company underwrites buyers in real time using proprietary KYB and credit-decisioning models. Mondu is the only B2B BNPL provider with a DNB-issued EMI license (granted August 2024, ref R193672), passportable across the EEA, plus FCA registration in the UK. Mondu serves merchants in Germany, the Netherlands, Austria, and the UK across both ecommerce and B2B sales channels. Integration is via API and pre-built plugins for Shopify, WooCommerce, Magento 2, Shopware, OXID, JTL, plus PSP partnerships with Stripe and Mangopay. The platform supports payment by invoice, instalments, and the recurring Digital Trade Account product. Total funding exceeds $220M, comprising approximately $56M in equity (Seed plus Series A and Series A extension led by Valar Ventures, Cherry Ventures, and FinTech Collective) and $164M+ in debt — including a €20M Vereinigte Volksbank Raiffeisenbank (VVRB) facility, a €30M VVRB expansion, and a €100M J.P. Morgan Payments warehouse facility (December 2025). Notable customers include Kingspan, Trotec, E-Farm, NBB, and Chefslist. Mondu holds ISO 27001 certification and is GDPR compliant.
